From the first day HWDO focused on educate as core of sustainability of all our developmental activities. Prior to our intervention, the situation was worsening. Since 1967, the government managed school only could produce one matriculate boy. To turn around this state of affairs HWDO stared formal and non-formal literacy programs and scholarship schemes. Provision of scholarships to bright students ensured continuation of their further studies beyond the village. The community managed school (Mashabrum Public School Hushe) has set a trend of quality and meaningfulness of education in the area.
We are protecting the ecology as our part of faith but the scarcity of alternative fuel and poor purchasing power, the already existing tiny forests are further vanishing out. On the other hand, the mass ignorance and increasing tourists are the threats to environmental pollution. To keep the nature in its superlative form the organization in its capacity has since now operated five mountain cleanup expeditions. Our efforts of environmental awareness programs generated a strung consciousness among locals. The ever swelling mountain-pollution by tourism activities requires monumental attention and external backing.
